"If history were told in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten."

~ Rudyard Kipling

Pioneers crossing the Oregon Trail to topple trees in forested woods and carve out a future on fertile farmland in the Pacific Northwest.

American Legionnaires returned from the Great War and paraded down the streets of Centralia, Washington, to celebrate the first anniversary of the Armistice, only to lose their lives in a conflict with the Industrial Workers of the World—and a mob that hauls a Wobbly from the city jail in the dark of night and lynches him from a bridge leaves a stain that mars the town today.

Pilots soar across the skies, dodging anti-aircraft flak, intent on dropping bombs to cut short the war claiming the lives of their buddies.

Rosie the Riveters sacrifice life as homemakers and mothers to weld together ships and pound rivets into aircraft wings so their men serving overseas have the weapons they need to win the war.

An adult daughter travels to Europe with her mother, creating memories and strengthening bonds of love while traipsing across the continent, often lost but never alone.

These stories of everyday people overcoming adversity while embracing faith and family carry readers into the past while sharing messages of hope, love, and freedom that resonate in the world today. These are the stories Julie McDonald Zander loves to share.
